Two free-wheeling adaptations of some of
Shakespeare's greatest plays, improvised in the style of
commedia dell'arte with archetypal characters, leather masks and
plenty of physical humor. Running in rep on alternate nights. No
script! No blocking! No net!
Temper, Temper, Tempest
A riff on Shakespeare's final
play, featuring a hack stage magician, his beautiful
daughter--who may have a touch of real magic in her--and a storm
of epic proportions.

Synopsis
Shakespeare's genre-bending spectacle tracing Time's inevitable
cycle of loss and rebirth.
Though less commonly known than many of Shakespeare's earlier
works, The Winter's Tale marks what might be called the
Bard's most ambitious play in terms of the scope of its story,
the variety of theatrical spectacle, and the attempt to
find reconciliation and redemption in the wake of tyranny and
tragedy. The play's presentation and treatment of women and
children in a world organized and ruled by men is at the heart
of The Winter's Tale, raising difficult questions and
providing a fantastic culmination with more than a little room
for interpretation. Considering that four hundred years later we
still live in a world where women and children suffer abuse and
injustice at the hands of the men holding power over them--in
every country on Earth, every single day--this play offers a
mirror by which to view how far, or not, humanity has
progressed.

Synopsis
Considered to be one of Shakespeare's "four Great Tragedies,"
The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice tells a
story of love, lies, jealousy and revenge. Othello has risen to
the rank of general in the Venetian army and has controversially
married Desdemona, daughter of a prominent citizen. Othello's
seemingly loyal ensign Iago, for reasons of his own (jealousy?
revenge? spite? just because?) manipulates the general into
believing that his new bride has been unfaithful to him. Spurred
on by grief and jealousy, Othello plots grim revenge against the
people he believes has wronged him.
