The Hawaii Shakespeare Festival is offering free companion lectures to Twelfth Night and A Midsummer Night's Dream on Sunday afternoon of opening weekend. Lectures are 20 minutes long and begin one hour before show time at The ARTS at Marks Garage.

The lectures, presented by Brenda Machosky, Assistant Professor of English at the University of Hawai‘i West O‘ahu, will present background information on the plays generally and  highlight aspects of the current HSF productions to watch for in performance. The lectures are free and open to the public.

A member of the Shakespeare Association of America, Prof. Machosky teaches courses in Shakespeare and for the past two years, she has offered public lectures in conjunction with the Hawaii  Shakespeare Festival. She believes that Shakespeare is best experienced on the stage, not just the page.  At UHWO, Prof. Machosky teaches a variety of courses in Early English Literature, World Literature, writing, and drama. Prof. Machosky recently published an edited collection of essays with Stanford University Press, Thinking Allegory Otherwise, and her book Faces of Allegory is forthcoming with Fordham University Press.
